Steely

In May of 2008, Zuma’s was asked to save a pregnant mare from a local kill pen. 24 hours later, our team arrived to discover that she had given birth along, with 3 other mares. We couldn’t say no. Those terrified mares and foals were standing in ankle deep manure surrounded by a couple of deceased horses and more than 50 other souls.

Steely and her foal Dan took a very long time to be gentled, but with love, patience and skill, all recovered and are living their best lives. Steely was particularly traumatized, to this day her hind end is triggering for her. She is an amazing teacher and therapy partner that has a full life here at Zuma’s.
