    The Healing Energy of Horses

Did you know a horse’s energetic field is four times greater than that of a human? When you are in their presence, your heart can naturally sync with theirs. This grounding connection creates a soothing, calming effect — a reminder of the deep wisdom and peace that horses so freely share with us. 💛🐴

    🌿 Grounding with Horses 🌿

Cancer can erode both our strength and our will. But in guided therapeutic sessions, horses lend us their strength. Working alongside a licensed therapist who specializes in trauma and healing, these sessions offer something far more powerful than a stuffy office ever could.

The presence of horses — combined with the peace of the outdoors — creates a deeply grounding and restorative environment. Here, healing isn’t just talked about; it’s experienced. 🐴💛

From Survival to Sanctuary: How Wild Horses Inspired a New Path in Cancer Therapy

As a Stage 4 cancer survivor, I know firsthand that healing isn’t just physical — it’s emotional, mental, and deeply personal.

During my most grueling months of chemotherapy, I found a lifeline not in a hospital, but out on the open plains of Colorado, behind a camera lens. Photography was my therapy. I began capturing the beauty of Colorado’s wildlife during breaks between chemotherapy treatments, wrapped in layers from head to toe to protect my hypersensitive skin — even in the sweltering heat of summer.

It was during this time that I discovered the wild horses of Colorado. Their raw power, resilience, and untamed spirit spoke to something deep within me. I kept returning to them, documenting their lives as a way to reclaim my own.

Visiting these horses was more than a creative outlet — it became a source of strength. Their grace and defiance in the face of harsh elements mirrored my own battle with cancer. That connection helped shape the positive mindset I needed to face the toughest challenge of my life.

Even after my treatment ended, the bond I felt with the wild horses has only grown stronger.

I began advocating for their protection and supporting sanctuaries that rescue them from overcrowded federal holding facilities. In so many ways, cancer changed my life — and wild horses helped me piece it back together.

This year, those two paths converged in a powerful way.

In collaboration with the trained equine therapy specialists at Zuma’s Horse Rescue, we’ve launched a dedicated equine-assisted therapy program designed specifically for cancer patients, survivors, and their families.

This program is about more than healing — it's about rediscovering purpose, connection, and the inner strength we all have within us.

The wild horses helped heal me. Now, it’s time to share that healing with others.
