Zuma's Can Help

The Experiential Learning Program at Zuma's provides academic tutoring, mentoring and equine-assisted learning for children of the greater Metropolitan Denver area. This program began in January, 2010 and currently runs one day a week for two different age groups: 7-12 years and 13-19 years. Participants in the program receive assistance with identity development, increased coping skills/self efficacy and foster long lasting relationships with mentors and horses.

Marked improvement is experienced in the following areas:

  • Social Skills
  • Peer Pressure Recognition
  • Academic Achievement
  • Homework Assistance
  • Mood Regulation
  • Communication Skills
  • Impulse Control
  • Anger Management

"FEEL" -Group Programs

Programs are designed for each individual based on the assessment tools completed by parents and teachers. Each participant in the program is paired with an adult mentor and an equine therapy partner. Sessions run weekly Wednesday evenings and Saturday Mornings according to the age of the participant over a period of twelve weeks:

  • Ages 7-12 Saturday Mornings 10:30 am- 1:30 pm
  • Ages 13-19 Evenings 5:30 pm-8:30 pm

The program cost is $40.00 for each 2.5 hours session. Scholarships are available along with sliding scale plans.

Wellness With Horses~ Family Program

Some times words are just not enough! Participating in a guided experience with our horses you can see many of the herd dynamics mirror family dynamics. This mirror effect can provide a safe space to begin recognizing family behaviors and begin open discussions about how to peacefully work through differences.
