The Horses Need Your Support

Zuma's plays a critical role in rehabilitating horses in the Western United States. As of February 2012, Zuma's has 38 rescue horses under it's care, costing the rescue over $4,500 per month in hay alone. Not to mention grain, supplements, veterinary and farrier care. Then there are staggering facility expenses, insurance, property taxes and utilities. Please help by visiting our Store to donate to the cause or sponsor a horse.

128,833 American horses are slaughtered for human consumption outside of the United States each year and 34,796 horses were exported out of the United States for slaughter last year. That is a total of 163,629 horses viciously killed by foreign countries for food.

Man and his horses are partners, not predatory combatants to one another.

Horses have since the beginning of time been service animals for man, in no way should horses be thought of as a food source.

Horses began life in the U.S. as Native American means of transportation.
For the early American explorers, our county was discovered by way of the horse
from transportation, physical labor, battle to entertainment; horses are a persistent aspect of our past, present and future.

We at Zuma's Rescue Ranch work hard to save as many horses as we can. We also promote education to horse owners about responsible breeding practices, adequate health care and proper nutrition for their equine partners.

Horses that have served the needs of a person or family for years and years should not be cast off and/or sent to auction. This is the time when the equine partner need their owners love and care the most. Owners need to learn how to retire their equine pet with dignity as one would hope they would retire and care for any other family member.

Please visit our Volunteer page to see how you can get involved in caring for these magnificent creatures and providing them with the love and care they so deserve.

Here is a sample of how some humans can abuse/neglect horses. This the very reason we have our horse rescue mission.
