                                              In Just One Year.......

More than 30 at risk youth and their families have had their lives improved with the help of Zuma's Experiential Therapy Program.

Letter from a parent:

Hello Jodi, I am writing to thank you and to let you know how much of a difference your program has made in our son and in our lives. He is doing better in school and his behavior has improved emencely. We adopted our boys a little over a year ago. Unfortunately our 6 year old had been through some truama and seen some things a child should never have to see. This created for him an unstable and troubling start in life. We have tried everything, threapy, lots of love, discipline, no discipline and his behavior hadn't improved it actually seemed to get worse.

While on vacation in South Carolina I mentioned it to a friend of mine who also does equestrian therapy there. She found Zuma for us and we tried it out. I have to tell you our lives haven't been the same since. Our son is doing great in school, his teacher says that she has noticed a difference since he started equestrian therapy and that he is doing a better job of paying attention in class. He is not going to the principles office on a weekly basis anymore and his work in school has improved as well. We have decreased his therapy visits and actully believe the horse therapy is doing more good for him. We can not thank you enough for what you all at the Zuma Rescue Ranch have done for us.

Sincerely,
The Thompson-Weems Family

Baby Buff the day we rescued him
from the Centennial feed lot.
He and his mother were headed to a
slaughter plant in Mexico before Zuma's stepped in.

Buff and his mother Hannah were full of parasites and lice
Poor Little Buff's  hooves were curled
like elf shoes which took months and months
of weekly trimmings to straighten out

Here is Buff after months of nutrition,
parasite treatments
and hoof care.

Buffs mother Hannah was adopted to a new home within six months

Buff went to a new home in less than one year, his recovery took much longer
than his mother Hannah's.

Buff is one of many success story's that happen every day at Zuma's

Here are some words from one of our volunteers,

Jodi, I wanted to thank you for my experience of helping out on Thursday. When I arrived, I had no idea what to expect. I thought I would visit with Cara and go about my business. How wrong I was. I didn’t leave for 5 hours and felt such a calm and fulfillment about my soul when I did leave. I don’t even remember the drive home. My mind was digesting all I had heard and seen. I was extremely touched by how clean, healthy, calm and adjusted the rescue horses are. Clearly a statement of your and Paul’s loving care. I could not figure out my teary feelings all day until later that evening when it hit me that I was feeling Zuma’s energy–and what an energy field she has. You were very blessed to have had her in your life and now you see the many beautiful, 4-legged reasons in your paddocks. I will try to set one day aside to help out as I now know what the message was from my special mare 2 nights before coming to Zuma’s Rescue Ranch. You no doubt have a daunting task in front of you but have also been chosen for a reason. I look forward to helping out again.
